About your Photographer in Derby - Nottingham area

How can Ourfotos offer such great value?
It’s simple; Because I offer BIG discounts for Week Day and Winter wedding photography, unlike many other full time professional wedding photographers I am busy all year round. Because I do not have to make most of my income on a few Saturdays in the summer, (I have a steady income all through the year) I can charge each of my customers less.

Also; You may have noticed that as soon as you mention the word “Wedding”, prices seem to triple. This is true with “Wedding” Photograph Albums, the range of photograph albums that I offer only two are called “Wedding” photograph albums the rest are just called “Photograph Albums”, they cost me a lot less therefore   I can charge my customers a lot less.

Photographic Style:
I take photographs of people being and looking happy
(check out my pictures, then have a look at what other photographers have to offer, my customers seem to look a lot happier [is my skill? is it my prices? or is it both?]).  I offer a combination of “Traditional” (posed portrait style) and Reportage (Press / Candid / Natural), the best of both worlds, however if you have a preferred style that you would like, I will do what you want (after all you’re the Boss).

Ourfotos is fully insured (many “cheap” part time photographers are not), so please do not confuse our LOW PRICE wedding photography with CHEAP wedding photography.

As for me, I am Graham. I have been taking photographs since I was 6, it is a passion with me but has never been a hobby (I don’t take a camera on holiday). I have been taking photographs professionally since 1979, Press, Fashion, Studio Portrait, Home Portrait, Banquet, Graduation Ball, Birthday Party, Sport, PR Aerial, Construction, Offshore  and been a Wedding Photographer since 1980. I have professionally photographed 1000’s of weddings, in the UK, mainland Europe and the Middle-East.  I have trained over 30 photographers in the art and very specialised skill of wedding photography. I will not keep you “hanging around” for ages for any group photos (I am very fast) and I am not Grumpy!

Please get in touch to find out more.

Grahams advice on wedding photography:-
(A light hearted look a serious subject)
Why have a professional wedding photographer?
.. Your Best Man knows his job ?
.. The Groom knows his bit ?
.. The Brides Mum is usually good at her bit
.. The father of the Bride does as he is told (by the women)
.. Your ushers know their job ?
.. The Bride is usually OK at her bit
.. As are the Brides Maids
.. The person who marries you knows that bit
.. The person who drives you to the reception knows that bit (you hope)
.. The person who runs your reception (hopefully again) knows that bit.
Only one pro at your wedding that will be experienced it all aspects of your wedding, your “professional wedding photographer” (sorry but this excludes your mate who has a great camera and took some fantastic photos of butterfly's).
The only thing that you have to sort out is getting the right photographer.
.. Apart from showing great past work and albums
.. Your wedding photographer has to be very organised, positive and decisive.
.. Needs the ability to take good photos a 1000 miles an hour
.. Be able to herd Cats
.. Not be grumpy
.. Oh yes, one that you can afford

Most of my competitors, who charge double the price I charge for similar packages are not necessarily “ripping you off” (though I do know one or two who are because they are just not any good at wedding photography), yes they may cost more, but they are probably paying a lot for the album that they supply you in the package. “Wedding” albums are really expensive (usually many £100’S at trade prices). I offer these albums but I mainly offer alternative, modern albums, that are quite stunning in their own right (and you don’t have a “book” that cost you a grand in your wardrobe, ask your Mum what I mean).

The photographers that charge £5K are not 10 times (or even 5 time better)  better than the rest of us, though the ones that I know of who do charge these prices are very good indeed (if you can afford it, go for it and if you can afford it  why are you wasting your time looking at my web site?).

Many of the “cheap” photographers can’t photograph Friday or any other week day weddings because they won’t be able to take the day off from their “Day Job” or they have purchased an entry level camera with their redundancy money. Their overheads are can be kept lower than a full time professional as they may not have the correct (or any) insurance and many do not have a back up cameras (or any other back up kit), and we all know how modern electronic devices can go wrong with out any warning. Overheads can be further reduced by working from their back bedroom and not paying tax (lucky B’s). How safe will the images of your wedding be? What sort of computer back ups will some one be able to make because they do not have the right IT.

After training, it costs about £10K-£15K to get “general purpose” professional digital photography kit (2 or 3 cameras, 2 or 3 lenses, 2 or 3 flash guns, computers and other IT kit, software, colour calibration kit and so on - the rechargeable batteries that I take to a wedding cost me about £300) and it has to be replaced regularly because it goes wrong. The standard lens (18-55) that comes with most big name cameras sell for about £50 on e-bay, a “real photographer” will spend more on their favourite lens than most normal people (and cheap wedding photographers) spend on their complete camera system and I don’t mean a little camera, I mean a digital SLR e.g. Nikon or Canon lens that is best suited for weddings will set you back a best part of a grand. This is nothing to do with “mines bigger than yours”, ultimately the “glass” is the most important part of a photographers kit, in that it is that only part that the photographer can not compensate for, unlike temperamental electronics found in many so called “good cameras”  that you can work around (if your good enough).

Best advice for you in choosing your wedding photographer,
(1) Define your budget, if it’s only a couple of hundred quid, generally you will wasting your money, so don’t bother, spend it on beer and have a good time and don’t set your hopes to high if your mate dose it (you are not a butterfly).
(2) Work on recommendation, if that’s not possible ...
(3) You are on your own, have a look at the photographers work, complete weddings, NEVER 20 “Great Photos” from 20 different weddings, any fool can get lucky with “one off’s” (they may have been at 50 or more weddings to get the 20 “Great Shots”).
When looking at the photos, if the portrait subjects are not looking at the camera, these are not weddings that the person has shot, they are photos that they have taken at another photographers shoot, they have just taken photos from the side, after being set up by the pro.

I suppose that you could always give me a call (but I would say that).
